Stay on top of your performance with our N11 Player App

Track it. Track it. Track it. The Next11 Player App both helps in centralizing sources of information regarding internal and external load markers, but also provide players with instant feedback on their own performance.

In high-performance settings, maintaining comprehensive oversight of diverse information sources presents a multifaceted challenge, encompassing subjective load reports (e.g., RPE and wellness data), external performance metrics, and communication platforms, each typically originating from different systems. Practitioners dealing with performance data often face this challenge, when having to integrate both internal and external load data in the same evaluation, that is then communicated to coaches as feedback on the physical output during the training. Teams with economic constraints or limited personnel are especially constrained in allocating time to data analysis, as the time available is centered around activities on the pitch. Information on performance data are mostly directed to the coaching staff, while players rarely get an insight into the performance levels if not requested.

External mechanical load & inner load combined.

The ability to see subjective load markers through RPE and wellness data has recently been added to the Coach App, enabling coaches to quickly access a variety of load markers. This means that RPE-measures accompanies the team and players’ stats for the session, and thus highlighting the synergistic relationship between the Player- and Coach App. As soon as a session has ended, all participating players are reminded about registering an RPE-value in their Player App. When this is registered, the answer will appear in the Coach App. This also applies for the registration of wellness data, which can be accessed through the “Wellness”-tab in the menu-bar of the app (for more information about how to utilize the RPE and wellness-functions in the Player App, see the article “Athletes’ subjective physical intensity counts”).

Get post-session analytics.

Following participation in a training session or a match, each player can access their individual performance statistics through the Player App. As visualized in Picture 1, the player is presented with direct feedback on their own performance levels. This is done by benchmarking their most recent performance against the average load performed on the specific type of training days (MD+/-). When participating in matches, the performance will be benchmarked against the previous match with the highest physical load. The same principle also accounts for the average team performance. If the player or team has performed close to their session average (+/- 25%) for the specific training day during a given micro cycle (e.g. MD-3), the load-number is accompanied with a check-mark. Players will furthermore be informed about how much the load-number from the most recent session deviates (in percentages) to previous session averages.

Players can also access their individual measures of time spent indifferent intensity zones and utilize the analytical feature "Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio," which is based on the Player Load. This feature highlights how their current workload differs from their workload over the previous four weeks. If the ratio is in the optimal zone (i.e. 0.75 –1.25) the ratio is accompanied by a checkmark, indicating that the player is performing at a continuous level, which is associated with a reduced risk of sustaining an injury. The overview of the Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio provides players with an easy-to-use data analysis tool, helping them better understand progressions or decrements in performance over time.

Picture 2 highlights the level of information that each player has on their teammate’s performance-levels. While no information is given regarding the actual workload of other teammates, an indication of their performance is provided through a percentage of each individual players’ performance compared to their session-average for the specific session. The enablement of players getting instant feedback on their performance levels is done to both ease communications between players and coaches, but also to provide players with a greater feeling of autonomy and ownership of their performance. By communicating with our clients, we have discovered that players are increasingly willing to engage with the club’s performance staff about their performances, fostering a more informed dialogue about player performance.

Progress in performance

When opening the Player App, players can view not only their most recent performance levels but also those from previous months. This feature is accessible by pressing the "Progress" tab in the app.  As visualized in Picture 3, players can both view a list of all previous sessions, but also access the accumulated load of previous weeks during the season. Picture 3 also presents an overview of each players’ performance levels in a longitudinal perspective. The “Activity Log”-overview lists all previous sessions, and highlights whether performance-levels have declined, increased or been maintained. The “Weekly Effort”-overview (picture on the right) highlights the accumulated load of the current week, and allows players to navigate through the total load of the past 12 weeks. The green band presented in the feature illustrates a rolling average of the previous 12 weeks, and emphasizes the range of weekly accumulated load that players should aim for to maintain continuity in workloads.

Player Wellness

The wellness-tab in the Player App present players with the ability to register their perceived wellness for each day. These registrations are subsequently summarized for all players in the Coach App, providing coaches with a complete overview of each player’s readiness to train. As visualized in Picture 4, each player is asked about their perceived level of muscle soreness, fatigue, sleep quality and length of sleep during the previous night.
